Development of a new type of tennis racket for Völkel Ski & Tennis

The Lambda concept:

Transfer and application of the geometric resonance optimisation previously discovered and developed in the field of high-end hi-fi and analogue record players to the design of an innovative tennis racket.

The racket is characterised by an extremely high level of vibration freedom and energy. However, this is not due to the use of damping materials and the associated loss of energy, but to the creation of a unique geometry.

Its geometric ratios and proportions follow those found on the human upper arm, forearm and even the fingers. These proportions in turn follow the proportions of musical intervals with striking precision.

In this sense, for example, the so-called heart of the mallet is asymmetrical. The length and shape ratios follow a similar law as the ulna and radius in the human forearm - and these in turn are in their length ratios to each other like minor and major thirds in music.

The club face is created by the intersection of two circular arcs with different radii and the appropriate distance between them. The proportions of the arcs and their distances follow the ratios of fourths and fifths in relation to the heart of the mallet.
