Calories – A Digital Health Software
Developing the Calories software - from the idea to the product
After the idea for Calories was born and I had defined the basic range of functions, I was responsible for project management and communication with the software developers as well as designing the entire UX and UI.
Calories was one of the very first software solutions for recording nutrition on the one hand and automated recording of physical activity combined with measurement data from the first smart devices such as body analysis scales from Withings on the other. Cooperations with Withings, BodyMedia and Medisana led to the development of corresponding interfaces as well as automated data import and synchronisation.
This made Calories one of the first "digital health hubs" on the market.
A version for iPhone, called Cal2Go (Calories to go), also already had algorithms for qualitative motion detection and its quantitative recording.
motion detection and its quantitative recording.
I had the algorithm originally developed by the Fraunhofer Institute in Rostock licensed for Calories as part of a collaboration.
